Faces carved in stone

Two stone carvings I made over a year ago. The one on the left was mostly carved with a dremel like tool. I'm not sure what kind of stone it is. My parents used to use this kind of stone for landscaping. I think it is about as hard as limestone or marble. Any help identifying the stone type would be appreciated. The smaller one on the right was carved using a piece of sharp harder stone as a challenge.
